CTRL Z
CTRL Z (Control Z), produced by the graduating class of 2022 at Augusta University, is the Senior Graphic Design Show with which I had the pleasure of collaborating on and producing with of my talented classmates. We decided to go with Control Z as a way to look back at our college career and all the mess-ups and mishaps we had along the way. College is one of the best ways to find out more about yourself, especially as a designer or artist, and we aimed to capture that journey with the name and designs, while also adding a reference to graphic design itself.
Graphic Design Senior Show
The Logo
We wanted the logo for it to be somewhat neutral, with no clear style, while also being dynamic. With twelve designers being in the show, we had a lot of styles and aesthetics to umbrella, so we went with basic line work and a simple typeface. The twelve lines of the Z also reference the twelve designers in the show.
Visual Language
The visual language of the show had to go with the simplicity we were going for with the trademark, but we still wanted it to be bold. The colors came from the basic black to be neutral, and the green came from tech colors, as this is a digital medium, and also because the show reception happened to be on St. Patricks Day. We wanted to still keep it dynamic, so we used a lighter green to contrast the dark black color.
The Products
For the show, we needed three different printed material: the invitation, the poster, and the name card. We started with the invitation because that had the most regulations for the printing. From there, we took that design and edited it slightly so we had a poster to push on social media and to print and hang if we wanted, and then we made a flyer with every designer in the show to hand out at the exhibition.
